A Look Inside Three Wheeled Buggies's Secrets Of Three Wheeled Buggies

Three Wheeled Buggies

If you're looking for a buggy jog with or just a compact stroller for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight areas.

For a smooth ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with an swivel wheel that rotates 360 degrees in front. They are susceptible, however, to punctures. Make sure you have an emergency repair kit.

Sturdy frame

Recent figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled buggie which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sense - is in steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more flexible and simple to drive while still looking fashionable.

The general rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it'll be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front allow you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or in difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with the newborn baby and a 3-year-old child and found it to be extremely sturdy. It handled cobbles, grass and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt solid to push, and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my kids.

The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to think about. It is important for the seat to be big enough to allow your child to be at ease and to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies have the option of reclining completely, while others will only allow an adult facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or muddy walks. This buggy is suitable for a single child starting from birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth until age 4. It comes with a bumper and raincover, a new 5-point harness, and a huge padded seat. Storage options are also a plus with a large storage basket, zip pockets on the hood and an extra pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels means that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - ideal for off-road buggies. Additionally, they allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies feature the front wheels that swivel to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, whereas others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is also helpful if you bump into the roots of a tree or stray curb, since the front wheel will rise up to keep you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air filled tyres which means they can handle a variety of terrains and are more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. They are prone to punctures, so you will require an repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.

Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. These buggies, according to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels, which she claims "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".

Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite large, and can be difficult to fit in tight spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as a jogger or you need to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and about. Fortunately, many models come with compact folding options that let you take off the front wheels for more compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

One of the main benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it's much easier to maneuver especially with a child in tow. The way they are constructed means that the front wheels spin at a whim and are incredibly maneuverable, making them ideal for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler. she said: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on uneven terrain. The front swivel wheel was especially helpful." I was also impressed with how well it dealt with kerbs, especially when using the hand-operated brake. It was extremely stable when in the downhills or on uneven terrain."

The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something to be aware of when you live in one of the cities. If this is a problem, a 4-wheeled buggy may be a better option for you.
